State Convention Support

We provide financial support to the FFA Association to plan and host the annual FFA State Convention. With over 2,500 FFA members and their families involved, the FFA State Convention is the culmination of the FFA year with career development event contests, special leadership sessions, trade show and workshops during the four day event. The FFA State Convention is the largest convention in the State of Montana.

National Convention Team Travel

Financial support for our state winning teams to travel to the National FFA Convention and represent Montana in their respective Career Development Event contests.

FFA Achievement Awards

Support stipends for our FFA members who achieve:

State Degree

FFA members can earn degrees as they progress through the phases of their leadership, academic and career skills development. The Discovery Degree, Greenhand Degree and Chapter FFA Degree are all earned at the chapter level. State FFA Associations recognize their top members with a State FFA Degree.

American Degree

The American FFA Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs).

Proficiency Award

The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their SAEs, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.

Students can compete for awards in 47 areas covering everything from Agricultural Communications to Wildlife Management.

Placement proficiency awards are given to those whose SAEs are related to employment, apprenticeships, or internships at an agribusiness or agriculture-related organization.

Entrepreneurship proficiency awards are given to those whose SAEs are related to ownership of an agribusiness or agriculture-related enterprise.

Proficiency awards are given out at the local, state and national levels.

Bulls for Blue

The Bulls for Blue program is designed to support FFA members getting a start in their own beef production project through Bulls for Blue start up funds.

How the program works:

Montana seedstock producers can contribute by donating 10% of Lot 10 at your annual bull sale to the Montana FFA Foundation. Funds generated allow us to provide on-going program support for our students, and provide start up funds for Supervised Agriculture Experience Projects related to the beef industry. Students interested in the beef industry can use these funds to purchase cows, secure leased ground for grazing, and other costs associated with their project.

Participating Producers

Student Teacher Scholarship

Without Agricultural Educators, students are neither able to enroll in Agricultural Education nor participate in FFA. Every year, Ag Ed programs are left unfilled or are closed due to the shortage of qualified Ag Ed teachers entering and staying in the profession. The Montana FFA Foundation supports Ag Ed teacher recruitment and retention in an effort to meet the teacher demand. The Student Teacher Stipend is available to assist Ag Ed student teachers with their expenses during their student teaching semester. This money can be used for anything from tuition to travel.

Commodity Seminar

Each year the Montana FFA Foundation coordinates a Commodity Marketing Tour for the State winning FFA Agronomy Team and the FFA State Officers. The tour takes the students from Great Falls, Montana to Portland, Oregon and Terminal 5. Students participate in seminars and workshops that increase their knowledge about Montana and International grain markets. Stops along the way include, Montana Wheat and Barley Committee, The “Shuttle” facility in Carter Montana, the Kalama Export Company in Portland, Columbia Grain Elevators in Pasco, Washington, The World Marketing Center, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, US Wheat Associates, and many other commodity-related businesses. The Commodity Marketing Tour provides an in-depth education about grain production, marketing and transportation, major aspects of the agricultural industry in Montana.

Career Development Event Contest Support

Students’ lives are impacted by FFA and Agriculture Education and will help achieve academic and personal growth – strengthening agriculture, business, and leadership to build healthy local communities, a strong state, and beyond. Career Development Events provide vital skills training and critical thinking events to develop workers for ALL industries. There are 26 CDE’s in which our FFA members can compete including speaking contests, Ag sales, Mechanics, Forestry, and Market Plan to name a few. CDE’s bridge the gap between classroom instruction and industry skills.

Events Supporting Local Chapters

The Foundation is proud to support Association events as well as plan three events annually to support our FFA membership. These events include Montana FFA Ag Expo sponsored by John Deere Dealers of Montana, State Convention and the Blue and Gold FFA Golf Tournament.
